Pupils present their new idea to ‘dragons’
YOUNGSTERS from Falconer’s Hill Junior School became budding entrepreneurs in a Dragon’s Den-style competition.
The Year Six children took part in the competition called Business Dragons run by Connexions in Northamptonshire.
They were asked to design a new product and present it to dragons made up of local businessmen and council officials. Certificates for the best overall idea and best presented idea were handed out.
Best overall winning idea was a pair of headphone ear muffs which keeps your ears warm and enables you to listen to music at the same time.
Deputy headteacher Beverley Watson said: “We do have quite a lot of days where we take the children off timetable and do different kinds of activities, they are quite used to it and excited when we do it.
“One of the things we have heard from the children is they don’t feel prepared for the options they face after they leave secondary school so this competition was designed to give them a little bit of experience of the working world.
“The children had a great time and I think a lot of them were sad that they could not make the end product.
“It is something we would consider doing again.”
