Pupils from Daventry district school design cards to welcome new villagers

Children from Woodford Halse Primary Academy were asked by housebuilder Taylor Wimpey to create a ‘Welcome to your new home’ card, with the winning entrant having their design printed to be given to the new residents at Woodford Meadows as they move in.

As well as seeing her artwork brought to life, winner Honey Waldock received a £50 book token plus a £350 donation for their school from Taylor Wimpey, while five runners-up – Stirling Hickman-Wright, Lillie Stowe, Xanthe Hickman-Wright, Keira Punch, Zuzanna Machalska – won £20 book tokens from the housebuilder.

Gareth Jacob, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “We always do everything we can to make our customers feel happy and comfortable in their new Taylor Wimpey homes, and we feel that giving new residents a ‘Welcome to your New Home’ card as they move in will add to the already wonderful community spirit which is emerging at Woodford Meadows.

“This is why we encouraged local children to get creative and design a card which will really make people feel at home in their new property – even when they’re surrounded by packing boxes. We were really impressed with the ideas and designs in the entries – there are some really creative youngsters in Northamptonshire.”
