Continuing improvements being made at The Abbey Junior School in Daventry have been recognised in the latest
Ofsted inspection.

The education inspectors had put the school into special measures last year and now visit the school every term to ensure progress is being made. The report from the latest inspection said the school was making reasonable progress.

Acting headteacher Liza Davies said: “We are really pleased with the report. You can only get a ‘making a reasonable progress’ or ‘making unreasonable progress’ result. We are ahead of where we wanted to be when we were making the plans, so we are all very thrilled.”

It is the school’s second monitoring visit since the last inspection in July 2012, the previous visit also stated it was making reasonable progress.

Miss Davies added: “The area we most want to improve on now is literacy and we are planning to use this in other work.

“We are waiting for data to show improvement in other areas.”

She was also full of praise for the people who have ensured the school’s progress.

Miss Davies added: “A huge thank you to the staff, parents and children for all of their efforts in helping us get out of special measures.”
