Police want public trust
THE county’s police chiefs have identified areas to improve the public’s confidence in the force over the coming 12 months.
Northamptonshire Police has been trying to improve trust in policing since a crisis of confidence hit the force in 2009.
Confidence in the force now stands at 81.3 per cent, while satisfaction with the overall service of the force is now at 86.4 per cent.
Police now want to improve people’s confidence in dealing with anti-social behaviour, boost victim satisfaction and promote communication and engagement with communities over the coming year.
Chief Superintendent Paul Phillips said: “A great deal of work has been completed over the last 36 months to influence confidence levels in the county. The positive outcomes of this programme of work are reflected in the significant performance improvements in relation to trust and confidence measures.
“From April the excellent service board will aim to build on what has been achieved by the confidence board and ensure the delivery of the trust and confidence, anti-social behaviour and victim satisfaction targets contained within the 2012-2013 policing plan.”
