Police slam ‘mindless aggression’ in Long Buckby

POLICE have described the actions of a group of youths in Long Buckby as mindless agression following several hours of anti-social behaviour on Monday.

Several residents suffered snowball attacks from between the hours of 4pm and 7pm with three houses targetted in the attacks and a school bus carrying pupils.

In some cases minor damage was caused to houses hit by snow balls and police are looking to arrest the youngsters who assaulted residents with snowballs.

Sergeant Paul Valentine from the Daventry Rural Safer Community Team said: “It seems to happen every time it snows in the village that youngsters think it is fun to pelt school buses and children with snow balls.

“Three homes were tragetted with snow balls on Monday night and residents said the young people were also offensive to them.

“I want to send out a positive message that this behaviour will not be tolerated and we are looking to make arrests.”

Police are appealing for witnesses or to anyone who was targetted in the village to come forward.

They are currently looking for between five and 12 17 to 20 year-olds who were throwing the snow balls in Market Place, Long Buckby.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 and ask to speak to Sgt Valentine in confidence.
