Police raid on Watford
OFFICERS have carried out a raid in Watford as part of warrants executed across the county under the Protection of Children Act.
Eight men and one woman was arrested as seven warrants out inareas including Corby, Wellingborough, Rushden, Northampton and Towcester. In addition, there was a large quantity of computer equipment was seized and, at one address, a quantity of drugs.
The investigation was conducted by the On-Line Exploitation Team, part of the Force’s Protective Services Department. Pro-active teams of uniformed officers from the force’s response teams conducted the warrants.
One of those arrested has been released on bail, while the other eight are still being interviewed at the Criminal Justice Centre, Northampton and Wellingborough Police Station.
Detective Constable Carole Walton, who led the investigation, said: “The arrests came at the end of a long investigation and I’m delighted with today’s results.
“We are fully committed to tackling what amounts to blatant child abuse.
“Behind every indecent image is a crime scene and an abused child.
“We will continue to hunt down individuals who prey on children in this way.”
