Elderly and disabled people in the Daventry district are being helped to take the hard work out of home adaptations by calling the Care and Repair service.
The team, based at Daventry District Council (DDC), offers advice and guidance to people who need repairs or adaptations so they can carry on living in comfort and security in their own homes.
Staff can advise on benefits and grants. But for a small fee they can also organise and project-manage private building work – from garage conversions and extensions to bathroom adaptations and access aids.
Cllr Richard Atterbury, DDC’s housing and health portfolio holder, said: “Organising home adaptations, particularly big work, can be hard. You want to know that the work being carried out is suitable and that the contractors are reliable. The Care and Repair service takes the stress out of it, managing the project from start to finish and offering peace of mind that the finished work will be of a high standard.”
