A parish council chairman has described the plans to build 155 new homes in his village as “mayhem”.
Gladman Developments are behind the proposal for land which is just off New Street in Weedon.
The firm is now seeking people’s views on the developments. However the plans have already caused outrage.
The chairman of Weedon Bec Parish Council, Stuart Jacks, said: “The statements on the website say they have sent more than 800 leaflets out to people in the village. Some of our councillors have relatives who live on New Street, whose homes would back on to this development.
“Our initial thoughts on this is that we are totally opposed to this development. Any cars to go out of the village will have to go through the crowded centre. It will just cause mayhem.
“Farthingstone Road also gets flooded during heavy rain, and if the land used to soak up the extra water has housing on it, it could cause huge problems.
“We are also disappointed that the developers will not have a public meeting about this and ask people for comments online. Not everyone has access to a computer.”
Weedon Bec Parish Council is planning a consultation meeting in the near future to raise awareness of the plans in the village.
