Opening the doors to a new learning opportunity

SCORES of prospective students at Daventry’s new University Technical College (UTC) turned out for an open day last week.

Around 100 people attended the event, held at the iCon centre, on Wednesday last week. The youngsters the chance to find out about the education opportunities as well as meet Daventry UTC’s principal designate, David Edmondson, and deputy principal Sally Kirk.

Mr Edmondson said: “We’re delighted with the interest we’ve received for Year 10 places this September. The information events have provided prospective students and their families with a greater insight into the value and purpose of the UTC, the personalised educational journey they can follow and the opportunities it will create for them.

“With work now in full swing on the construction of the building, 2013 promises to be a very exciting and busy year for all partners working towards UTC’s opening this September.”
