Pupils from two schools in the Daventry district took part in an event attended by Olympians.
Children from the Abbey Academy in Daventry and Welton Academy took part in the David Ross Education Trust’s Summer Cup which was attended by Dame Kelly Holmes.
The event held at the Grantham Meres Sports Centre saw the youngsters competing in a number of different events from baton relays to obstacle courses.
Corinne Biddell, headteacher at Welton Academy, said: “It was fantastic to see our pupils displaying great sportsmanship in what was an incredible event.
“It was definitely not just your average school sports day.
“The children were smiling from start to finish and I am sure they will not forget this amazing experience.”
Other athletes at the event include gold medal-winning rower Mark Hunter and Winter Olympics star Jenny Jones. All the athletes were on hand to give advice to the pupils.
Dame Kelly Holmes said: “It was an honour to be at the event.
“Events like this and being exposed to sports at a young age is so very important.”
