New supermarket for Daventry is key to plans

READERS have been having their say over plans for a the new supermarket, petrol station and retail unit in Daventry.

The Daventry Express has seen plans for the site (page 3) and asked readers what they would like to see in the town.

Daventry District Council, and its developer Henry Boot, want to completely redesign the Braunston Road/Eastern Way/Ashby Road junction in Daventry and built two large retail units.

DDC has announced one of them will be a supermarket and that it is in discussions with the major chains over who will run it and hopefully the nearby petrol station.

The AA has told the Daventry Express one of the reasons behind Daventry’s high fuel prices when compared to nearby towns is likely to be the lack of competition from a supermarket forecourt.

For more on this story and to see what readers want to see in the town, see this week’s Daventry Express.
