A new convenience store opening in Weedon tomorrow (Friday) will celebrate its launch with a donation to Weedon Bec Primary School.
Headteacher Antony Witheyman will be joined by some of the children from the school as guests of honour when the new Tesco Express opens on the High Street. They will be invited to cut a ribbon to declare it officially open.
The store is presenting the school with a cheque for £500 as part of its commitment to supporting the community.
Store manager Sally Meadows said: “We are delighted to be able to support the staff and children at Weedon Bec Primary School.
“ We are really pleased that Mr Witheyman and the children are coming to launch the new store and join in the celebrations with us.
“My team and I are looking forward to welcoming our customers into the new store and we hope that Tesco will become a key part of the local community.”
The doors of the new Tesco Express store, on High Street, open for the first time at 8am with the official opening ceremony and cheque presentation taking place later that morning at 10.30am.
The plans for the store have not been without controversy with many villagers worrying about the future of their shops once The Tesco Express was opened.
Store opening hours will be seven days a week from 6am until 11pm.
