New sailors took to the water on Drayton Reservoir in Daventry on Saturday, May 17.
The Rugby and Daventry Sailing Club, which is based on the reservoir near Middlemore, held an open day for potential members to try their hand at sailing and meet other members of the club.
The day was held for the Royal Yachting Association’s Push The Boat Out event which was part of a national festival of sailing and windsurfing.
A spokesman for the association said: “The open days gave all-comers - regardless of age, experience or ability - the chance to get out on the water to sample sailing and/or windsurfing, and get a taste for a fantastic, social outdoor sport where everyday life really does get left on the shore.”
As well as Daventry’s sailing club, open days were also held at Cransley SC and Northampton Sailability which runs sailing for the disabled. Pictured are Vince Edwards with Carter Oldfield, eight, who sailed for the first time at Daventry’s open day.
