New nature trail at Daventry Country Park

A NEW nature trail has been created at Daventry Country Park with help from pupils at Falconers Hill Junior School and local company Cummins.

The nature trail features six information boards dotted around the park starting with details and a map at the Visitors Centre.

It then leads through the sensory garden to the pond, and highlights what visitors can see or hear of interest along the way.

The boards have been funded and designed by local company Cummins from their community grant fund, while Daventry District Council (DDC) wrote the content with help and suggestions from Falconers Hill Junior School and the Friends of Daventry Country Park. The boards are being installed at the park on Thursday, September 27.

DDCs community, culture and leisure portfolio holder Cllr Alan Hills, said: “The new nature trail will be a fantastic addition to Daventry Country Park and comes following suggestions in a recent consultation we held about how the park could be improved.

“The boards have been paid for and designed by Cummins, while the information has been suggested by Falconers Hill Junior School and the Friends of Daventry Country Park, so this is a great example of partnership working for the benefit of the wider community.”

Amandeep Takhar, business analyst at Cummins, said: “At Cummins we are passionate about supporting the local community through our Corporate Social Responsibility projects.

“The nature trail at Daventry Country Park will provide visitors with a fun, educational and interactive experience that will enhance their understanding and appreciation of the park’s wildlife and conservation. Thank you to all who have contributed to the success of this initiative.”
