The new headteacher at Welton Academy has received a warm welcome in her first week in the job.
Corinne Biddell started at the school on Monday, taking over from Yvonne Watts who has moved to Guilsborough Primary School.
It is a first headship for Mrs Biddell who was pleased with the opportunity.
She said: “I was delighted to get the job because it is such a lovely school and has a great environment.
“I was really happy to get the appointment and am very excited. It is a great chance to develop my career.”
Formerly deputy headteacher at The Abbey Junior School in Daventry for the past 10 years, Mrs Biddell has been delighted with the warm welcome.
She said: “The children have been really fantastic. I have had such a warm welcome from them and from everyone at the school.”
She was also pleased to be taking on a school which is currently been judged as outstanding by Ofsted.
Mrs Biddell said: “The school was left in a very good state by the previous headteacher so I do not have to go about making major changes to transform it.
“I shall be using this early period to settle in and have a look at the teaching and what is going on.
“I will be exploring and investigating all the different aspects of the school.
“From there we will be looking to maintain the high standards that are already here and hopefully improve on them.”
Outging headteacher at Welton Academy, Yvonne Watts, replaces Tony Henretty, who retired as the head of Guilsborough at the end of last year.
