New drug and drink project for the town

A new service to help those with drug or alcohol problems overcome their issues has been launched in the Daventry area.

The new service was launched on Friday last week and is being run by health and social care charity CRI.

The CRI Northamptonshire Integrated Recovery Service will have premises in Daventry as well as Northampton, Kettering, Wellingborough and Corby.

The project will also help to run satellite services in rural areas.

The service will provide advice, information and medical treatment for people worried about alcohol or drugs, and offer support to their families and friends.

CRI has been commissioned by Northamptonshire County Council.

The service is aimed at tackling drug and alcohol problems which can often lead to more serious health issues and therefore impacting on the NHS, and in some cases leading to crime.

Previously the service had been run by NHS Northamptonshire Healthcare.

Nic Adamson, deputy director at CRI, said: “The new service that CRI will be delivering will provide vital support to people in the community who may be struggling with drug and alcohol issues.

“We pride ourselves on providing tailored treatment to individuals to enable them to get their lives back on track and play a positive role in the community.”

For more information on the service, both professionals and members of the public can contact CRI Northamptonshire Integrated Recovery Service on 0845 034 4549 or northants@cri.org.uk.
