Cllr Catherine Lomax has become the new chairman of Daventry District Council (DDC).
She was sworn in at a meeting of DDC on Wednesday last week, having served as vice chairman for the past 10 months.
She said: “I would like to ensure that people across the whole district see the council as a body which is there to support them, to support their interests and to do what it can to make the district a very good place to live.
“Being the chairman is a very important role. I’m the public face of the council in many situations. The other aspect of the role is getting the message over to the district that the council is here for everyone.”
She will support the Alzheimer’s Society during her year in office.
