MP addresses neonatal care

Daventry MP Chris Heaton Harris highlighted issues facing the care of premature babies in a debate in the House of Commons this month.

Mr Heaton Harris held the debate on February 6 to raise his concerns around neonatal care with Health Minister Dr Dan Poulter where he addressed cuts to the neonatal nursing workforce among other challenges that need to be addressed to ensure babies get the best possible care.

He has been a strong supporter of Bliss, the special care baby charity, and has been helping ensure neonatal care remains at the top of the political agenda since he was elected in 2010.

Bliss’ Campaign and Policy manager Helen Kirrane said: “We’re really grateful to Chris Heaton Harris MP for raising these important issues with the Health Minister on our behalf.

“It is vital that we keep the needs of these tiny babies and their families on the political agenda.”
