Six-month-old Molly Mae Wotherspoon died following the attack by an American pit bull, called Bruiser, at a house in Morning Star Road, Daventry, on October 3, 2014.

Her mother Claire Riley, aged 23, of Merrydale Square, Southfields, Northampton, appeared at Northampton Crown Court today and pleaded not guilty to being the owner of the dog that killed her daughter.

Molly’s grandmother Susan Aucott, aged 56, of Alfred Street, Northampton, also appeared in court. She has previously entered a not guilty plea to being the person that was in charge of the dog that was dangerously out of control.

A trial is due to start in both cases on June 8.
