Money raised for Guide Dogs by Daventry Conservative Club

The club picks a charity to support each year, and in 2015 members decided to raise money for Guide Dogs UK.

The charity was chosen after being nominated by a club member, who was inspired after seeing the difference that guide dog Quaisy has made to the life of her uncle, Long Buckby resident Frank Berry

Fundraising events included a weekly quiz, regular raffles, and entertainment evenings.

Through all the club’s hard work, £3,000 was raised - the second year running the amount has reached that level.

The cash was enough to not only sponsor a guide dog puppy, but also to name it too.

The name chosen by the club is George.

The £3,000 cheque was presented at a ceremony held at Daventry Conservative Club. Once George is born the club will receive a photo and birth certificate and will continue to receive regular ‘Pupdates’ as he grows up and starts training.
