Meeting called over plans for 155 homes

A PUBLIC meeting has been called to discuss plans for 155 new homes in Weedon.

The proposal, put forward by Gladman Developments was revealed last week for the land off New Street and was met with disapproval.

A meeting will now be held on Saturday, February 8 between 1pm and 4pm at Weedon Bec Village Hall.

Villager Dale Langley said: “Many of us living in Weedon believe that the village and its facilities are already stretched to breaking point, especially the school (which has already been expanded to its limit) and the doctors’ surgery.

“The highway surrounding the development (Farthingstone Road) is not able to withstand the increased traffic and roads through the village are already bottlenecks for traffic.

“There are also far better sites for housing such as between Freeways and Clark’s garages, the A5 towards Long Buckby and the A45 leading towards Daventry.”

“We are encouraging all residents and anyone from surrounding villages to attend.”

The chairman of the parish council Stuart Jacks described the plans as ‘mayhem.’
