A masterplan for a new estate in Daventry have been revealed to residents.
The plans for Mickle Well Park, which would see an extra 450 homes developed to the north of the town near to Lang Farm, were revealed at a meeting at the iCon centre in Daventry last night (Wednesday)held by John Thompson and Partners on behalf of Landform and Orbit Homes.
The plans include a provision for a local shop or a doctors surgery, provision for allotments and room for self-build houses.
The developers will also be part funding a major refurbishment and expansion of the Phoenix Centre in Daventry.

The masterplan was revealed following a consultation meeting the developers held with the local community held last month.
A report was drawn up from feedback received at the meeting and handed to residents. It states: “While participants accepted that Daventry is a growth town, some were concerned about the pace of housing development on greenfield land and whether investment, including in schools, health, community and transport infrastructure, is keeping pace with this development.
“Others saw Mickle Well Park as an opportunity to deliver investment in local services, including youth and community facilities and better pedestrian and cycling provision to link neighbourhoods with the town centre.”
The plans have proved controversial with some residents in the town.
A campaign group has been set up to oppose the homes and it outlines that there is not enough infrastructure in place in the town to support the extra homes.
