A drilling technician from Daventry who works as a male stripper at the weekends is organising a ‘Full Monty’ style show in the town.
Cory Dickson, a former soldier who served in Afghanistan, is a regular performer for The Adonis Cabaret, the UK’s largest and longest-running male strip show.
As well as starring on stage, he says he now wants to run his own shows in the area and his inaugural event will be held at The Square nightclub on Sunday.
“It won’t be sleazy like other male strip shows,” said Cory, who lives in Western Avenue. “There will be a drag queen who will be doing a comedy routine in between the acts so there will also be plenty of laughs. It promises to be a good fun night out.”
Cory, aged 23, served as an infantry solider in the Anglian Regiment for more than three years and took up stripping after leaving the army.
He said: “I’ve always worked out at the gym and enjoy keeping fit and sports like boxing, kickboxing and judo.
“I took up stripping because I thought it would be a good way to make some money from keeping in shape.”
Cory says he is supported by his employer, Daventry-based Boring Blasters, and his girlfriend, Kelly.
The couple’s life story was recently featured in a national magazine.
“I’ve been stripping every Saturday night since I left the army in March,” added Cory, who says he won’t be appearing in shows in his home town.
“I love being on stage. The atmosphere when you’re performing is fantastic. What more could a man ask for than getting paid to take off his clothes in front of lots of women?”
Cory’s show will be held at The Square, Bowen Square, Daventry, on Sunday from 8pm to 11pm and is strictly for over 18s only.
The main stars of the show – entitled Live, Love, Laugh – will be Marshall and Jonno. The host will be Lola Lasagne.
Tickets cost £10 and are available from The Square or from Cory on 07552 238909. Tickets priced £13 can be bought on the door.
