A MAKEOVER and extension of the gym at Daventry Leisure Centre was opened on Saturday.

It has resulted in the gym being double the size and the introduction of some new machines including Trixter Bikes, Powerplate vibration machines and a fantastic new TV wall to keep everyone entertained as they train.

Luke Parratt, general manager at Daventry Leisure Centre said: “Customer reaction to the new gym has been fantastic. Visitors over the weekend have been particularly impressed with the space that the new gym offers and the new equipment that we have had installed.”

Cllr Alan Hills, portfolio holder for community, culture and leisure at Daventry District Council, which owns the leisure centre said: “We are delighted that the new gym and dry-side changing facilities have now opened for users to enjoy.

“I’m sure that they will see the benefits of the refurbishment as people access more leisure facilities at the centre than ever before.”

The gym is part of a half-a-million modernisation programme at Daventry Leisure Centre. The programme should be completed before a full weekend of activity in October. It will include a free event for children to attend featuring Olympic swimmers Ross Davenport and Fran Leighton.
