Logistics firm opens new hub in Daventry

A worldwide logistics firm has opened a new state-of-the-art hub in Daventry.

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics moved to a new 85,000 sq ft facility on Apex Park in the town, and Daventry District Council welcomed the firm to the town.

As one of the largest privately-owned and family-run logistical global networks, it currently employs over 16,500 people and operates from 157 countries.

The business chose to site its new facility in Daventry after regarding the town as a key location in the heart of the ‘UK logistics golden triangle’ – 10 miles from the M1, 15 miles from the M6 and close to the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT). Operations commenced in May 2016, with a blend of new and existing customers in the retail and manufacturing sectors.

A launch event took place last week with delegates treated to a tour of the new facility and a seminar on the future of e-commerce.

Cllr Colin Poole, Daventry District Council’s Economic, regeneration and employment portfolio holder, who attended the launch, said: “We warmly welcome Hellmann Contract Logistics to Daventry and the boost they bring with them for our local economy.

“It’s great to see another international company choosing to base its operations in our District, which is fast building a reputation worldwide as a centre for logistics excellence.”

Andrew Sulston, UK director of Hellmann Contract Logistics said: “The launch of our new Daventry facility is a very exciting development that forms an integral part of the future of our contract logistics business in the UK.

“The state of the art hub offers a modern working environment for our team and is equipped with the latest IT systems, as well as being one of the most sustainable warehouses in the market-place. We look forward to the continued development of ‘best in class’ service for our customers.”
