The clean up of Daventry gets underway later today (Friday) ahead of the main activities over the weekend.

Teams will be out and about picking up litter and generally sprucing the town up as part of the Keep Britain Tidy ‘Clean for The Queen’ campaign.

The first event will see Daventry & District Housing helping pupils at Danetre and Southbrook Learning Village to carry out a litter pick near their school today.

Then on Saturday there will be three community litter picks around Daventry which anyone can join. Each one will have equipment and bags for volunteers, but anyone with sturdy gloves is urged to take them along with them.

On the Headlands, volunteers are being encouraged to help by meeting by the shops in Edinburgh Square at 10am until 2pm.

A clean up event will run on the Southbrook from 11am to 1pm, with volunteers meeting at the Southbrook Community Centre in Hood Road.

And on the Grange volunteers will be tidying up between 2pm and 4pm, based at the Pike and Eel pub in Tamar Square.

Daventry District Council is also encouraging town centre businesses to clean up the areas outside their shops over the weekend.
