An open event was held at the Everdon Outdoor Learning Centre over the weekend to mark its 40th anniversary.
The centre provides outdoor learning, as day visits or residential trips, to school children of all ages from across the area, and has access to ponds, rivers and meadows.
The open day gave parents (some of whom had visited as children) and teachers the chance to see what the centre has to offer these days, and to delve into its past as well.
There were old photos of the centre, charting its past as the old village school and then as the learning centre, as well as the old visitors’ books. Younger guests could also get outside and try to hunt down some insects, and there were demonstrations of wilderness skills, including making fire.
