Latest on house fire in Byfield

FIRE crews are still at the scene of a blaze that gutted a cottage in Byfield this morning (Friday, March 12)

Forty-five firefighters from six crews were called to Boddington Road at around 5.30pm yesterday (Thursday) after the thatched roof of the cottage caught fire.

Two fire crews are still at the scene of the blaze, which is thought to have started in the home's real fire.

The elderly couple who live in the property managed to get out safely and are now staying with relatives.

Boddington Road remains closed.
