A synthetic ice rink is available for those who want to try out to be the next Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill.

The rink is at Whilton Locks Garden Village and is running every day until Tuesday, January 7.

Chelsea Hunt, from the garden village, said: “Back in July we became an independent garden village and it meant we were in control of the kind of things we could do here.

“We wanted to do something festive this year and we came up with the idea of the rink and having Softie, an inflatable 50ft snowman. It has proved really popular every day and the weekends are starting to get really busy. It has been a great success.”

The cost of the sessions are between £5 and £9. Skate hire is included in the price.

Each session is 45 minutes and people are asked to leave plenty of time to get ready. The garden village is hoping to run the sessions next year as well.

For further information about the festive activities or to book a place, call 01327 843100 or visit www.wlgv.co.uk.
