Heads in the Daventry area welcome legal challenge

A LEGAL challenge launched by the education authority has been welcomed by headteachers.

Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) is part of a consortium taking legal action against the examinations regulator Ofqual as well as exam boards AQA and Edexcel as it wants a review of the grading of this summer’s GCSE English exams.

It follows the decision made to increase the grade C boundary in the GCSE
paper by 10 marks between January and June this year. It means that pupils who had achieved the same marks earlier in the year would have achieved a higher grade.
