Have you say on A45 bypass

PEOPLE will be able to have their say on plans for the A5-M1 link road next week.

The long-awaited Flore bypass has been on the cards for years.

Although details have not been released of the new low-cost option, it has previously been described as single carriageway and running from the A5 to the A45 near the M1 junction 16 roundabout.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire County Council said: “In an attempt to find another way forward, last year we developed a lower-cost bypass scheme, which would cost about £30-£35 million.

“The county council has decided it is time to re-open the discussion on the bypass and, as part of a consultation, has set up three public exhibitions to gather feedback from people on their views.

“The purpose of these public exhibitions is to allow users of the A45 and local communities to comment on whether they think a bypass is needed, which route option they think is best and whether they support the lower-cost option.

“Due to the statutory processes involved in building a road, it would be a minimum of five years before a bypass could be open.”

Consultations will be held at Flore’s Millennium Hall on Thursday, July 12 from 2.30pm to 6.30pm; in the annexe of Weedon Village Hall on Friday, July 13 from 1pm to 9pm; and in The Abbey Centre, Daventry, on Saturday, July 14 from 10am to 2pm.
