Hallowe’en events for Daventry children

A SPOOKY Hallowe’en event is in store for youngsters this month.

Children are being invited to dress up in their scary costumes and take part in two scavenger hunts and a ghostly walk at the Daventry Country Park on Wednesday, October 31, during the school half-term holiday.

The walk will start at 4.45pm and end at 6.30pm but people should register at the Visitors Centre in the park from 3.15pm to 3.45pm.

All children must be accompanied by an adult and are advised to take torches with them.

On Monday October 29 there will also be a free Wicked Woodland Adventure taking place at the park from 10am to 12pm where children can take part in mask decorating, pumpkin colouring and a spooky woodland trail.

Councillor Alan Hills, Community, Culture and Leisure Portfolio Holder at Daventry District Council, which has organised the events, said: “These Halloween activities are certain to be a thrilling affair and will give youngsters something to do during the half-term holiday, completely for free.

“Daventry Country Park is a wonderful location as well so I would encourage mums and dads to take their children along and enjoy the fun.”

Travis Perkins has sponsored the event on October 31, and the 4th Daventry Cub Scout group will also be helping with the campfire and donating their time free of charge. To take part participants will need to complete and cut out a registration form that will appear in the next Daventry Calling magazine, which is being sent to all households in the district from October 15, and take it with them on the day.

Alternatively from October 15 people can print out a copy online and complete it at Daventry Calling.
