Half-term tennis club is a hit with youngsters

A TENNIS club for Daventry children served up a day of sporting fun this week at the Daventry Leisure Centre.

Around 20 children came along to the club, organised by Everyone Active, to learn some new sports skills.

Activities and Sports Development Manager at Daventry Leisure Centre Will Heckford said: “The group were taught a different shot every day through a mixture of technique based drills and fun games.

“The shots covered this week included the forehand, backhand, volley and serve.”

He added: “Feedback from parents and children alike was extremely positive and it was great to see some of the group expressing a serious interest in joining our Monday night after school sessions.”

Monday night sessions are open to children from school years one to six and take place between 4pm and 6pm at Daventry Leisure Centre during every school term.
