CHARITABLE pupils at Campion School in Bugbrooke raised a huge £600 for charity after being inspired by their teacher.
Pupils from Year 9, Year 10 and some from Year 12 raised the money for the charity Sands - an organisation offering support for families who babies die during pregnancy or after birth.
Course leader for hair dressing, Sue Devereaux, suggested the charity that helped her cope 13 years ago when her baby was born still born.
Mrs Devereaux said: “It’s a really great charity who helped me all those years ago. We had a few ideas as to which charity to help but in the end the children decided Sands was a good one.”
The students styled hair for other pupils, asking for donations of about £1 to raise funds to put on a show.
Using the £108 raised the pupils then made programmes and sold tickets for the show, which featured the Campion dancers, to help reach the grand total.
Mrs Devereaux said: “I am incredibly proud of the pupils, they laugh at me sometimes because I am so proud.
“They are fantastic pupils and I genuinely think I have the best job in the world.”
The pupils presented the cheque to the charity on Thursday October 25.
