Getting in the mood for festive food

CHRISTMAS came early to shoppers at the Daventry Country Market on Tuesday.
The market, which runs in the Foundry Place Church Hall in the town centre, put on a tasting morning.
Customers got to sample a range of festive foods, from savouries through to cakes and desserts, before placing orders for their Christmas foods.
As well as food the market also features local people who make all sorts of crafts and other items.
Market manager Anne Walker said: “It was a fairly busy morning.
“We had the Christmas crafts starting as well, which was really nice to see because we have some fantastic talent.
“We got a few orders, but the idea was to show people what we do up here.
The market runs at the church hall every Tuesday from 8.30am to 11.30am.
It is run as a cooperative by the members, who have to abide by strict rules on hygiene and labelling.
The market is also looking for new traders - lifetime membership is just 5p.
