Funding agreement announced for new school in Daventry

Lord Nash, Secretary of State for Education, confirmed the funding agreement for Daventry Hill School – set to open in September.

Daventry Hill School is the new school for children with special educational needs that will serve Daventry and this part of the county. Its building is currently under construction off Ashby Road in Daventry.

Charlotte Raw, head of school, said: “We are delighted to have the green light to open our doors this September.

“This specialist school will be built close to the town centre reducing the distance children will need to travel to other special schools in Northampton and across the boundary into Warwickshire, forming part of Daventry’s District Council’s learning quarter plan.”

Daventry Hill School will be a new co-educational all-through (aged four to 18) school for pupils with special educational. The school will serve a range of pupils with special needs that have an EHCP (education, health and care plan) in place.

Education Excellence for All (EE4A), an approved multi-academy trust and sponsor, received the news of its funding approval in a letter from Lord Nash which stated: “I am very pleased to confirm that the Secretary of State has agreed to enter into a funding agreement with Education Excellence for All in relation to Daventry Hill School, which is due to open in September. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the great commitment and energy which you and your colleagues have shown in reaching this point. Free schools form an integral part of the Government’s education policy to improve choice and drive up standards in schools. I am therefore delighted that Daventry Hill School will bring new opportunities for children in Daventry. I wish you all the best with the school’s opening in September 2016 and in the future.”
