PUTTING the ‘fun’ into fundraising proved a successful strategy for one town charity.
A total of £1,000 was raised at the fourth annual Daventry Fun Day, for Pete Spencer’s Helping Hands Memorial Fund.
Around 3,500 people flocked to the Daventry campus of Northampton College for the day of fun in the sunshine.
It was the second time it has raised cash for the Daventry-based charity, which provides specialist equipment and days out for children with serious illnesses or disabilities and their families.
In total £1,063 was donated and Ian Spencer, who runs Helping Hands, said: “I am very grateful to the organisers for their continued support, and everyone that attended in raising such a magnificent total.”
The event featured a variety of activities and performances, including fairground rides, giant inflatables and flower arranging.
Organiser Jo Davies added: “It was a fantastic day with a great turnout.
“The weather also played a part in making it a great success for the college.”
