A FREE weekend of sports and activities will mark the opening of Daventry’s refurbished leisure centre.

The centre will officially reopen on the weekend of October 27 and 28 and is encouraging local people to go down, try out some of the events and see the changes.

Since July, Daventry District Council, which owns the centre, has been working in partnership with Everyone Active, the new operators of the centre, on a revamp of the leisure facilities in Lodge Road.

The £500,000 work will see the leisure centre have a larger gym with new equipment, new changing rooms, and a new reception area.

To celebrate refurbishments the open weekend will have a range of free activities, including group exercise taster sessions, family fun sessions in the swimming pool, a DJ for the day, and taster sessions in the new gym.

To find out more about the improvements or the open day call Daventry Leisure Centre on 01327 871144 or visit www.everyoneactive.com
