Britain’s servicemen and women will be honoured during a special flag-raising ceremony in Daventry next week.
Armed Forces Day takes place on Saturday, 28 June and is an opportunity for the nation to show its support for the UK’s serving and retired military community.
Daventry District Council has arranged a flag raising ceremony to be held earlier in the week at 10.30am on Monday, June 23, when members of the Royal British Legion will be in attendance at the Council’s civic offices in Lodge Road.
Members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony in Daventry, along with representatives from the Royal British Legion, Air Training Corps and Army Cadet Force and various local dignitaries
Councillor Chris Millar, leader of Daventry District Council said: “We are honoured to be able to show our support to Armed Forces Day once again, which takes on extra poignancy in this centenary year of the First World War.
“This special event provides an opportunity for us to reflect on the outstanding contribution of men and women in the armed forces who serve their country at home and abroad and I would encourage everyone to show their support and join us for our ceremony.”
