A quantity of Class A and B drugs were seized. Officers are now looking to speak with a 17 year old girl in connection with the seizure.

During the same evening, 12 community officers and special constables also carried out foot patrols with the passive drugs dog – which indicates recent possession of drugs – to update people using the town centre as to what was happening, and why, and to support local licensees.

The tactical team were made up of Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire officers carrying out the first, three force regional team operation.

Daventry safer community team, Sergeant Sam Dobbs, said: “This was a successful operation which led to a number of arrests. The warrant was carried out as a result of concerns raised by the local community regarding the availability of drugs in licensed premises.

“We have worked closely with Pubwatch and will continue to work with them, to ensure Daventry town centre remains a safe environment for people.

“Any licensing issues arising out of this operation will now be looked at with the police licensing team in conjunction with the Daventry District Council licensing authority.”

Jonathan Spencer, owner of The Plume of Feathers, said: “We do not in anyway condone the use, selling or possession of drugs. Anyone that is caught doing either of these is barred from the pub.

“I understand the amounts of drugs found were small, and the allegations are for minor offences.

“On Friday night we had between 80 and 100 customers in the pub, and it appears that five have been arrested – a relatively small number.

“We have had no action taken against the pub and are free to trade as usual.”
