Fire crews called to Daventry recycling centre

FIRE crews were called out to a recycling plant in Daventry on Monday (January 7) evening.

At 7.11pm the fire and rescue service was called to a report of a fire in a recycling plant, Sims Recycling Solutions, Fawsley Drive, Heartlands Business Park Daventry.

They sent three pumps (two from Daventry and one from Long Buckby) plus their specialist cold cutting ‘Cobra’ intervention vehicle based at Daventry.

On arrival the crews found a fire in the conveyor belt area of the plant leading to a shredding machine.

The fire was under control by 8.30pm with the last crew returning to station at just before 10pm.

The fire damage was slight and confined to the conveyor belt and associated machinery, the cause of the fire was accidental.
