Enterprising people are being invited to take part in Daventry and District Housing’s (DDH) second business start up course ‘Strive’.

The 12-week programme will see anybody living in Daventry district who dreams of running their own business taking a series of workshops, and exercises run by experts.

The programme is working in partnership with South Northants Homes (SNH) and the Enterprise Cube, to provide attendees with skills and experience to create their own start up business.

Residents receive grants, training, mentoring and equipment with additional business management support once active.

There are 20 spaces available for this year’s course, which begins on Tuesday September 16 with training taking place at DDH and SNH offices. Transport and childcare can be arranged for participates.

A free taster session will be provided for those interested in taking part on Tuesday August 12 between 10am and 12pm at DDH offices and between 2pm and 4pm at the SNH offices.

A second free taster session will take place on Tuesday September 9 at the Holiday Inn, Flore, Northampton.

The course will culminate in a series of Dragons Den style presentations, in which participants can bid to gain £1000 to support their venture.

Ciara McMillan, community and partnership manager at DDH, said: “The strive programme has been an incredible opportunity for local people to improve their career prospects and develop their aspirations of working for themselves.”

She added: “Schemes like strive are so important because they enable people to become financially independent.”
