Northamptonshire Police has launched a campaign against drink-driving with operations planned to coincide with key World Cup fixtures this month.
The month-long operation, which is also targeting motorists driving while under the influence of drugs, will see a wide number of officers carrying out drink driving patrols throughout the month.
PC Dave Lee, roads policing officer, said despite the winter and summer drink driving campaigns, the number of motorists being caught over the legal alcohol limit has not decreased.
He said: “Surprisingly, a lot of people still get caught drink-driving.
“I think there is going to be an increase in people drink-driving this month, especially if England do well in the World Cup.”
