Donate unwanted coats to help local people
DOF members Gina Ogden and Deanna Eddon
PEOPLE are being asked to donate their unwanted and unloved coats to help keep local people warm this winter.
Daventry District Council has teamed up with the Daventry and District Over Fifties Forum (DOF) and the Hope Centre, a Northampton-based charity, on ‘Coats for Christmas’, a scheme to help homeless and disadvantaged people and families to keep warm over the winter period.
Coats for both adults and children that are in good condition and are no longer wanted can be dropped off at DDC’s offices in Lodge Road in Daventry, from November 9 to December 10.
The coats will then be handed over to the Hope Centre who will distribute them to those in need throughout the Daventry district and beyond.
Ian Vincent, chief executive at DDC, said: “This idea was instigated by DOF and is designed to help people from all walks of life, both young and old, stay warm this winter.
“Rather than throw your unwanted coats out you can bring them along to DDC’s reception area and help vulnerable people stay warm this Christmas.”
