Discount retailer leaves town to expand

A DISCOUNT retailer with its national headquarters in Daventry is set to move out of town.

99p Stores, which has its national base on the Drayton Fields industrial estate, has announced it will be moving to a unit at Pineham, Nothampton, near junction 15a of the M1.

Commercial director Hussein Lalani said: "At the moment we have 150 staff in Daventry. Most of them are moving with us and we hope to expand by the end of the year to 250 employees, and 350 by the end of 2011.

"Our Daventry warehouse is working 25 per cent over capacity. This move will allow us to expand. We chose to stay in Northamptonshire we wanted to keep the staff and experience we have."
