The race begins in Northampton and heads along Towcester Road. After leaving Northampton the race will head through Milton Malsor, Gayton, Bugbrooke for a sprint section, Nether Heyford, Stowe IX Churches, Farthingstone, and Little Preston.

The riders will pass through Newnham and then climb Newnham Hill in the first of two hill sections.

They will speed down the hill and into Daventry, passing up London Road, New Street, Abbey Street and out to Norton.

Then it is on to Whilton Locks, the Bringtons, East Haddon, Ravensthorpe, Coton, Guilsborough, and Naseby for a second hill section.

The cyclists then go to Kelmarsh, Arthingworth, Braybrooke, Pipewell, Rothwell, Desborough – for a second sprint section, Harrington, Foxhall, Loddington and into Kettering along Gypsy Lane, Northampton Road, Sheep Street, and finishing in the Market Square.

Full details of the route, including a zoom-able road map and minute-by-minute timings for where the riders are expected to be can be found on Daventry District Council’s website.

In Daventry district communities along the route are being offered up to £200 in grant funding to help them mark the occasion.

The grants are available for community groups wishing to put on an event to mark the tour’s arrival. Community groups can partner up with local businesses to host events, so long as the community group makes the application and benefits from any profits made.

Applicants should also be able to demonstrate volunteer involvement in the event they are planning.

Councillor Alan Hills, community, culture and leisure portfolio holder on Daventry District Council, said: “The Aviva Women’s Tour promises to be a fantastic spectacle, shining a spotlight on our beautiful district as well as giving residents an opportunity to watch world-class cycling on their doorstep – literally in some cases.

“With more than a dozen district villages on the route and two Queen of the Mountains’ climbs, at Newnham and Naseby, there should be plenty of excitement and drama for spectators and we hope people will show their support by turning out to cheer the cyclists on.

“We want to support communities wishing to organise events to promote and celebrate the Aviva Women’s Tour. I would urge groups to apply for a grant now – please use this opportunity to support this event and in turn your community.”
