Daventry Country Park wins Green Flag Award for the 16th time

The national accolade has been awarded to the park in recognition of its excellent facilities and high maintenance standards.

The park, off Northern Way in Daventry has now received the status 16 times in the past 17 years.

The Green Flag Award is judged on a range of criteria including first impressions when entering a park, how clean, well-maintained, healthy, safe and secure it is for visitors, how well the site is managed and promoted, as well as work carried out towards encouraging community involvement, sustainability, conservation and heritage.

The Green Flag is being flown at Daventry Country Park from today (Thursday, July 21) ahead of a series of summer events.

The Family Cinema Day takes place this Saturday and Mini-Adventures will be held each Monday during the school holidays, offering wildlife challenges and orienteering sessions at a cost of just £1 per person.

Councillor Alan Hills, Daventry District Council’s community, culture and leisure portfolio holder said: “I’m extremely proud and delighted that Daventry Country Park has once again been awarded the Green Flag.

“To receive this national benchmark of excellence for the 16th time is an exceptional achievement and reflects the ongoing work by the district council and our partners to enhance the park and its facilities.

“The last year has seen big improvements to the sensory garden and the car park, as well as a series of successful community events and activities. And with lots more planned at the park in the coming weeks and months, it looks like we’re in for another great year ahead.”
