Daventry cafe and Northampton College to launch milkshake

Northampton College has teamed up with a Daventry cafe to launch its very own milkshake.

The Hideout in Sheaf Street will be selling the new ‘Shake NC’ milkshakes to help the college raise its profile in Daventry and highlight its forthcoming Open Event at Badby Road West on Saturday, May 17.

The blue and yellow milkshake is based on the college’s corporate colours, and will be made with banana ice-cream, topped with mango bubbles and a blue-raspberry or bubble gum sauce. As part of the college’s partnership, every milkshake in The Hideout’s selection will be served in bright new jointly branded cups.

Northampton College principal, Pat Brennan-Barrett said: “We are very excited about this new partnership and see it as a fun way to remind people that we are committed to post-16 education in Daventry.

“We have been talking to local people recently about our role in the town and we are very keen to re-emphasise that our offer at Badby Road West is there for the whole community and provides great opportunities for young people adults to further their education without leaving town.

“Our aim is to reach out to people in Daventry and remind them about what we are here to do.

“The Hideout has a fantastic reputation, well known locally for its popularity, friendly environment and customer service, and its selection of milkshakes are particularly popular with young people. We were delighted when owners, Claire and Darren, came on board to help develop this quirky idea, and believe we are the first ever college to launch its very own milkshake! We hope ‘Shake NC’ will be enjoyed by young people and adults in the town, reminding them just what we have on offer at Northampton College.”

Darren Hayes, owner of The Hideout said: “We are pleased the college chose us based on our excellent reputation. It’s been really exciting developing a milkshake for an organisation and we’ve given the concept a lot of thought. We are positive the people of Daventry will love ‘Shake NC’.”

The Deputy Mayor of Daventry, Cllr Ron Fox, will be the first person to officially taste ‘Shake NC’ at its official launch at The Hideout on Monday, March 31, at 3.30pm. Complementary ‘Shake NCs’ will also be available to the first 35 people at the event, free of charge.

Northampton College’s Open Event will take place at its Badby Road West site on Saturday, May 17, from noon to 4pm.
