Daventry boy with heart condition gets his Disney wish granted by charity

A seriously ill four-year-old boy from Daventry has had his greatest wish granted to visit Disneyland Paris thanks to a charity.

Four year old Finley has a rare congenital heart condition that means his heart is not fully formed, causing breathlessness and fatigue.

He was diagnosed the day after he was born in 2011 and underwent open heart surgery at just four days old. He has had a total of five surgeries since birth and will most likely need a transplant when he is in his late teens.

But Finley loves everything to do with Disney, especially Mickey Mouse and the film Frozen. Whenever Finley saw adverts for Disneyland Paris, he wished he could go and meet all his favourite characters, which was the inspiration for his greatest wish.

To make his wish come true, Rays of Sunshine organised for Finley and his
family to travel to Paris by Eurostar where they spent four days exploring the theme park, trying out all the rides and meeting all the famous characters.

Finley even got to attend the Character Breakfast while at the park, where he got to meet Disney stars like Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Pluto and on the last evening the family attended the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show.

Finley’s father, Mark said: “This was something that Finley and his twin sister Millie had never experienced before and we all as a family had an incredible time. The twins were even presented with a birthday cake to celebrate their fifth birthday while we were there.

“The memories we can now all share are truly magical and we will cherish them always. Thank you Rays of Sunshine, from the bottom of our hearts.”

Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity brightens up the lives of seriously ill children in the UK aged three to 18 years old by granting wishes and organising outings and events.
