Daventry ambulance station to close
IT HAS been announced that Daventry ambulance station is to close following an announcement today (Tuesday).
The East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) will close many of the 66 ambulance stations in the county.
The service will now be working from 131 tactical deployment points, served by 13 hub stations across the East Midlands. Two of these 13 hub stations will be based at Kettering and Northampton.
However, Daventry will have what EMAS is calling ‘tactical deployment points’ - a place where ambulances will be strategically placed to respond to emergency calls.
This could be at a police or fire station, but there are also rumours that some ambulances may be stationed in supermarket car parks until needed.
The plans have been labelled by campaigners as sneaky.
